I’m a muslim girl and our countries oppress us really dangerously and comparing it to Western sexism is pure bullshit and erases the problems we face still to this day. These are 2 different “cultures” that have very different social dynamics
In countries like Pakistan, Turkey etc. women who are in political lead positions are constantly threatened and dehumanized by other male politicans and the male population
Turkey has a long history record, especially since the rise of neo-islamism, of how they silenced female politicians with sexist bullshit, called them whores etc.
There have been cases in which female politicians were also hit and silenced by their fellow politicians
We might have more female representives in our pairlaments but what is the idea behind it if they are treated like trash and in some cases have to fear for their lives? even by other women???
And does a female-quota represent the sexist dynamics in our countries???
In Turkey child marriage is illegal, yet there’s a huge dark number in which it is estimated that child marriage still happens A LOT
